Date : February 12, 2015

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Defence, under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, will hold launching ceremony of the “Post-Conference Book” of the “Islamabad Trilateral Dialogue: China-Afghanistan-Pakistan”, in collaboration with the Pakistan-China Institute and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) here today (Thursday).

According to a statement, Deputy Secretary General and European & International Cooperation of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Head, Dr Gerhard Wahlers, will be the guest of honour, while Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, in his address, will also underline the need of joint trilateral youth summer camps and annual trilateral media conference to promote people-to-people contacts between the three neighbours. “This post conference book, which is the follow up of the two-day trilateral dialogue of China, Afghanistan and Pakistan held last year in October, provides a collective approach toward countering challenges of security and stability in three neighbours and also suggests boosting of mutual cooperation; enhancing cultural, academic and social contacts to bring better understanding and improve trust level between three countries; as China, Afghanistan and Pakistan share borders and can also share the bright future too,” said Mushahid. During the panel discussion, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, who recently visited Afghanistan, will also share his views. Other panellists include former ambassador to Afghanistan and National Security Division Secretary, Muhammad Sadiq, and distinguished ‘Descent into Chaos: The US and the Disaster in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia’ author Ahmed Rashid. A number of diplomats, researchers, intellectuals, experts, journalists, analysts and strategists are also attending the launching ceremony.
