Mushahid terms CPEC project as a new catalyst of China Pakistan cooperative partnership

Karamay, Aug 12: Chairman Pakistan China Institute Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed along with delegation of PCI attended the first China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Forum held in Karamay, China's Xinjiang region- a significant city of China's One Belt and One Road Initiative aimed at boosting cultural and trade ties with the region and western world.
Speaking on the forum, Mushahid highlighted the various development aspects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) terming the corridor as a new catalyst of China Pakistan cooperative partnership.
He said the corridor will not only link Pakistan to the regional economies but also strengthen the trade and cultural ties with South-Central and West Asia.
"CPEC will help create new job opportunities for the youth of the region especially Balochistan, KP and GB region affected by terrorism", he said.
More than 300 officials and delegates from companies, think tanks and social organizations of the two countries attended the first China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Forum. The two-day event features six sub-forums on topics including city-to-city and industrial cooperation and youth exchange.
The forum is expected to issue a manifesto elaborating the goals of CPEC and sign a number of cooperation agreement.
An economic corridor linking Pakistan's Gwadar Port to China's Xinjiang with highways, railways and pipelines. The CPEC is among the six economic corridors crucial to China's Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.
