Meeting with Dr. Wang Zhihua, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Dr. Wang Zhihua, the newly appointed Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, along with Third Secretary, Liu Shiji, visited the Pakistan-China Institute on Wednesday, 11th January 2017.

Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC, and Mr. Mustafa Hyder Sayed, Executive Director of the Pakistan-China Institute, along with the PCI team received the Counsellor and formally introduced the think-tank and its initiatives to them.

The PCI team gave an elaborate presentation that highlighted the Pakistan-China Institution’s role in advancing relations between the two countries, especially people-to-people connections. Mentioning old ties between both the countries, Chairman Mushahid Hussain emphasized PCI’s efforts to foster constructive cooperation between both countries in order to deepen cultural, as well as, diplomatic ties.

Dr. Wang Zhihua expressed that he was delighted to visit the Pakistan-China Institute and for having the opportunity to discuss prospective collaboration with the Pakistan-China Institute.

He acknowledged that PCI has been working on promoting cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries long before CPEC was announced. He also said that PCI’s efforts go “beyond CPEC” and he “hopes to closely collaborate on future initiatives with Pakistan-China Institute.”

The Chairman acknowledged that China is Pakistan’s closest friend and that it is a “matter of pleasure and pride for us to see China making its mark on the world map.” He added that the current “situation is conducive for close economic cooperation” and is looking forward to working with the Counsellor on all bilateral issues related to Pakistan-China cooperation.
